Agriculture

Sean Patrick McCoy Ward 6 Missoula Montana Agriculture

For 15 years, I have worked the land as a farmer, including 11 years running Frank’s Little Farm in Missoula’s River Road neighborhood. What began as a small family operation has grown into a community hub, where neighbors and customers connect over fresh, local food. Through these relationships, I have gained a deep understanding of what Missoulians value most, from food security to the need to balance growth with preserving our agricultural heritage.

In 2015, I had the privilege of helping shape the Missoula Growth Policy, which recognized agriculture as a cornerstone of our city’s identity and well-being. Today, as the demand for housing intensifies, our farmland and the farmers who sustain it are increasingly at risk. Losing these lands would mean losing part of what makes Missoula vibrant, resilient, and unique.

Missoula needs a voice on City Council who understands the essential role agriculture plays in feeding our community and shaping its character. As both a farmer and a resident, I will work to protect farmland, strengthen local food systems, and guide development in a way that respects our agricultural roots while meeting the needs of a growing city. Together, we can protect what makes us who we are and build a future that reflects our values.
